Slipped

This is about someone gradually forgetting about you and not being able to do anything about it.

My feet slipped and I took a tumble,
Head going down while feet went up.
My descending stumble was barely audible,
And the only sound that could be heard was my loud yelp.

My hands kept grasping for something to grab,
But I stood no chance.
The surface was smooth and slightly creased,
And I could see no end to my fall.

How could I slip?
What happened to me?
What distracted me?
Why did I do this to myself?

Or was it really me?
Was it my fault?
These questions ran through my mind.
All the while in descent.

I squinted my eyes and saw something,
The ground was getting closer and closer.
I closed my eyes and accepted my fate,
That I was no longer running through someone’s mind.
