Entrance

The furious wind thrashed
Throwing innocent drops of water towards my face
My face writhing in discomfort
As each drop found its mark.

My hands
Rough and coarse
Gripped the rope
Bracing

My body lurched forwards
The sea grabbed ahold
Did not let go
With no obvious direction in mind.

Did my eyes spot something in the distance?
A blur of a shape
With no concrete form
Or function.

I try to steer towards it
With the wind now slowly declining
The sea now a shell of its former self
The rays of light bravely and tenderly made their way down.

I tried my best to remember
Why I had set off
On this perilous
Journey

Surely
The reason
Would be located
On the blur of a shape.

The blur of a shape
With its mysterious figure
Slowly began to unravel
And reveal its secret.

From a distance my eyes strained
The linear curves and irregular edges
With a monotonous colour
And a loss of function.

All of a sudden the sea awoke
The sea of thoughts
My thoughts
As to the reason that I am here.

The shape now fully visible
Glowing red
With a large plateau in the center
With a single structure.

I arrived on the shore
Mind still ablaze with questions
And walked towards the ominous red glow
The single structure on the large plateau in the center.

Upon arrival I heard the sounds
Of laughter and cheering
Familiar voices pierced the otherwise silence
Voices that were long gone.

The pulsating red glow
Emanating from behind the doors
Seemed to lazily dampen
As I got closer.

My hands slowly inched towards the doors
They seemed to crumble at the touch
What I last remember
Was being greeted by those that had not walked with me
In quite some time.
